Bug #3332
UI Enhancement: Redesign Sidebar Navigation to match new Style
Description
The goal is to update the existing sidebar navigation UI to match the modern, clean design of the system sidebar.

1. Design Alignment & UI Architecture:
Today's primary objective focused on modernizing and redesigning the sidebar navigation for the EV Charging Management System based on the Dribbble Taurus design system reference. Both PermissionBasedSidebar.tsx and Sidebar.tsx
were refined to implement the Taurus aesthetic—incorporating sleek curved tree branch connectors for nested submenus, minimalist circular dot glyphs with active glow states, and smooth slide/hover transitions—while keeping all navigation items, role-based access rules, translations, and company branding
2. Elimination of Redundant Toggle Controls:
Following a direct visual comparison with the app layout, redundant buttons were identified and removed. Since the top navbar's hamburger button (☰) already controls sidebar expansion and collapse globally, the redundant circular collapse toggle (<) inside the expanded sidebar header was removed. Similarly, the circular expand arrow (>) below the logo in the collapsed rail header was eliminated, decluttering the header area and providing a clean, seamless brand identity.
3. Collapsed Rail Popover Positioning & Styling:
The submenu flyout popover for the collapsed rail sidebar was completely re-engineered to resolve an overlap issue where popovers opened vertically centered and obstructed upper icons. The flyout's anchor and transform origins were updated so that clicking or hovering over any rail icon opens the submenu cascading cleanly downwards from the clicked icon, exactly matching your visual reference. A dark category title pill badge, sleek nested connector lines, and subtle active rail button highlights were also integrated to give it a polished, executive appearance.
4. Exploration of Base Theme & Background Contrast:
To resolve the flat appearance of a plain white sidebar on an already light dashboard, alternative background options were tested. First, (Soft Slate #F8FAFC) was implemented, pairing a soft slate background with elevated white pill cards on active and hover states. Subsequently, (Executive Deep Slate #1E222D) was applied to test a bold, high-contrast enterprise look—featuring a dark slate canvas, subtle borders (#282E3E / #2E3545), soft slate text (#94A3B8), dark-themed brand mark boxes, and high-visibility Taurus purple active pills (#6C5DD3)—giving the sidebar a distinct standalone pillar presence next to the dashboard.
